Title:White Rabbit
Type: Feature
Running Time: 16’08”
Shooting Equipment: HDV
Synopsis:
It is just a true story in the bottom of my heart
Which is my remote memory
I should have kept it as a secret
And buried it in my mind
But eventually I decided to share it with others
Right now it is the best time to write it down
The moment I could face the wonderful affection calmly is the time I could really give it up
Definitely I will fall in love with another person
Although the time has not come yet…
Director’s Interpretation:
White Rabbit was a point, which the director hoped can evoke the sympathy of the late 70s and the early 80s generation. The time is changing, thus the first love for the 50 and 60s people was just a kind of feeling, whereas it meant another definition for the 90s generation (because China’s Reform and Open up to the world has really functioned). The society has changed, and the time has changed too, but what has not changed was we 80s generation, who has buried our first love in the bottom of our hearts. For the ten years from 1996 to 2006, we forgot our memory and thinking of the past owing to the busy life and inexplicable responsibility and pressure. The White Rabbit was more than a kind of milk candy, which meant precious treasure to the 50 and 60s generation. When we tasted it, its silky and fragrant flavor could remind us of our long-lost memory, all of which could be deemed as the best reward for our happiness and sorrow, bitter and sweet experience in our way of growth.
